Pull up the Liederhosen and throw a couple more bratwurst on the grill – the Harveys are headed to Europe. Yes, we are taking month long journey through the European continent and beyond. It’s our big summer vacation. So, let’s answer your first question, countries we’ll be visiting: Belgium, Netherlands or Holland (yet the people are called the Dutch!?), Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France-maybe, and finally England and Scotland. And for your 2nd question; no, we are not fleeing the country for political reasons or because Barack Obama may be elected president. But then, that didn’t work out for Alec Baldwin either.
With all this money the government seems so eager to stuff into the pockets of us hard-working educators, we figured we would head out for one big adventure this summer. Everyone has been warning us that the dollar is so weak. It’s true, the Euro is a lot stronger, afterall it’s a coin instead of a bill. But we felt this was the right time to go. Latin America is definitely a better travel deal right now, but we went to Belize last summer really wanted to travel somewhere with different history & culture. Besides we’re packing nothing but Levi Jeans that we plan on selling to European teenagers hungry for American-style clothes so we can make a little profit.
We’re excited about this trip and hope to connect with many new friends over there. Brett served a mission in England so we’ll be staying with families. We’ll even stomach the stewed tomatoes for breakfast just to get free boarding for the night.
We’ll try to keep you updated as we go, so check back for our travel stories. We know comments aren’t working right now do apologize for that but hope to have them running soon. The blog engine mechanics are on it. Until then, enjoy this old ‘ web 1.0′ of our website.
